The accommodation is
extremely comfortable with a good-sized head compartment and luxurious
saloon and galley. The galley contains a double sink, pressurised
hot and cold water together with a separate top-loading fridge,
which are our standard fit. The chart table is full sized with
liberal space for the navigator. All berths have generous length
(6ft 6in,1.9m) and comfort, with the added option of a fixed double
berth forward. The heads compartment was redesigned early on to
incorporate a completely re-styled moulding, greatly enhancing
the usability and easy cleaning characteristics of glass fibre.
The 36 has all the facilities to cater for extended periods at
sea, with the quality of the fittings and upholstery exceptional,
hand finished by Rustler’s top craftsmen.
On Deck
The cockpit is a spacious 7ft 3in (2.2m) long
with a large sail locker, a separate vented gas bottle locker
and another locker for warps, fenders etc. Provision is made for
a life raft to be stowed aft, which is the easiest place from
which to handle it in an emergency.

The rig has been constantly updated with continual
improvements to design, material quality and equipment. Joinery
modifications have kept pace with current practical thinking and
design, often together with customer requirements, which sometimes
have been adopted as standard if beneficial to the workability
of the cruising standard.

The basic hull form of the Rustler 36 is
very similar to the classic design of the smaller Rustler/Twister
31, but with slightly more cut-away to the keel's leading
edge and a longer keel bottom to make her easier to slip
or lay alongside.
Beam on deck has been increased relative to water line beam
in order to improve deck space and accommodation without
detracting from sailing performance. The deck layout and
sail plan have been kept simple with a no-nonsense single-spreader
masthead rig with both forward and lower shrouds. The draft
is moderate with encapsulated lead ballast, thereby eliminating
keel bolt problems, leaks etc. There is a large, well protected
cockpit with high coamings and the option of wheel or tiller
steering.

This is the perfect choice of yacht for a sailor
who wants a safe and simply traditionally designed yacht with
a good performance that has been developed and updated from a
very successful line of well-proven predecessors.
Proven Performance
This well-proven, fast, blue water cruiser, from the designers
Holman and Pye, inspires complete confidence with excellent sailing
performance and quality of design. Her long, deep keel configuration
gives her the kind of predictable and stable behaviour in a seaway
that fin and skeg yachts simply cannot match. Her generous displacement,
safe performance and seakindly characteristics make her a very
forgiving and confidenceinspiring yacht.
She offers roominess below to carry heavy cruising loads while
giving her owners comfortable and spacious living conditions.
"My best day’s run was
176 miles(average. 7.3 knots) but
I haven’t had 24 hours of perfect sailing weather yet!"
Robert
Lowe (Owner)
Every Rustler 36 is built to take
the worst of prevailing seas; to look after her crew and to carry
that certain air of tradition that every yachtsman with blue water
aspirations so covets. The Rustler’s heavy weather characteristics
are why many are being sailed on long distance cruises, a few
are on single handed passages but usually they are sailed by couples
who find the safe ease of handling ideal for short handed sailing.

Superior Build Quality
Further peace of mind can be found in
the build quality of the Rustler 36. She is immensely strong,
hull and deck mouldings are laid up by hand to Lloyds Register
approved specifications using Lloyds approved materials.
The coachroof and inner coamings are stiffened with end
core balsa and all deck fittings are reinforced by marine
ply pads. The hull, deck and bulkheads are bonded with the
toe rail through-bolted and sealed.

Each yacht is customised and hand built to an owners
specification, although the Rustler has evolved over the eighty
plus boats built so far, giving a very well proven standard configuration
should the owner prefer.
